Top officials from Federal Ministry of Health were in Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital on the 1st of April, 2022 for on the spot inspection to access facilities within the hospital. The delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary Mr. Mahmud A. Mamman, Director of Hospital Services, Dr (Mrs) Ademimpe Adebiyi (MNI), Deputy Director Budget, Mr. Dantani M. Yaro and Dr Uche Nwokwu.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Mahmud Mamman said the purpose of their visit was to carry out an assessment of the hospital infrastructure and facilities adding that the Federal Government has invested a lot of funds in the health sector during the covid-19 Pandemic in order to improve health care delivery in Nigeria hence a follow up on the level of work done to enable the committee report findings to the presidency. The Director of Hospital Services Dr Adebimpe Adebiyi emphasized that they are mainly accessing capital projects for 2020 and 2021 and other projects in the hospital.

The Medical Director, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile while welcoming the guest expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Health for investing so much in the health sector in recent times hence his determination to utilize the funds judiciously to execute the projects for which it was met. The Medical Director and his management team later took the guests on a guided tour around the hospital facilities at Uselu site and the new site at Aduwawa where most of the projects are executed.

Some of the projects inspected were; Intensive care unit, Isolation centre, molecular laboratory, new male ward II, the occupational therapy school building, constructed internal roads within the hospital, new class room hall for Nursing students, office furniture, 4D ultrasound scan and digital x-ray machine.

At the end of the tour, the guests commended the Management of the hospital for the quality of work done; the delegates also had an Interactive session with the various unions in the hospital and were pleased with the apparent cordial relationship between the Unions and Management of the hospital.
