Today, the 25th of September 2026, the members of the Pharmacy Department of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in conjunction with the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), FNPH Branch, Benin City, joined the global pharmacy community in celebrating World Pharmacists’ Day for 2026.
The theme of the day: โEmpowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures,โ underlines the skills and capabilities required of pharmacists in line with their training and professional responsibilities for their roles in top-quality, integrated health care delivery.
The pharmacists, led by the Director of Pharmaceutical Services and Head of Department, Pharm.(Dr.) Mrs. M.I. Ibhawoh, marked the occasion by brainstorming on the theme of the day with focus on preparing pharmacists for the challenges of a rapidly-evolving, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven pharmaceutical practice. They also interfaced with other members of the hospital’s staff, some patients and their relatives through sensitization initiatives.
Donning their customized T-Shirts to mark the day, the pharmacists celebrated the day with merriment and camaraderie, taking memorable photographs with the highlight being the cutting of the World Pharmacists’ Day celebration cake. The Medical Director, (represented by the Head, Clinical Services), the HCS and other Heads of Department graced the moment with their presence. The HOD, Pharmacy and the Head of Clinical Services, in their separate remarks appreciated pharmacists for their contributions to healthcare services and emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration amongst members of the healthcare team in order to achieve healthier futures for patients.
The World Pharmacists’ Day is commemorated globally on 25th September every year to celebrate the practice and profession of Pharmacy in all sectors of the profession.
