The Wellness Mission Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City, on the 15th of September, 2022. The leader of the group, Mrs. Mary Osagie, while stating some of the aims of the organization, said they raise mental health awareness for the public, noting that the illness can be treated and cured like every other sickness. She added that they also provide humanitarian assistance to patients who are mentally challenged in the society.
In a welcome address, the Medical Director, Dr. Imafidon Osama Agbonile, thanked the foundation for the visit, stating that mental illness, if not well controlled, can impede on one’s ability to function well. He expressed his gratitude to churches, philanthropists, and NGO’s who have been a pillar of support to the in-patients in the hospital. He also added that the hospital is always ready for any form of assistance to the patients who are undergoing rehabilitation. The climax of the visit was the presentation of clothing materials and cash donations to patients.
