The Director of Nursing Services Department in Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Uselu Benin City, Mr. Jeremiah E. Agbidi launched a book titled “Ward Administration and Management: the nurse clinician’s handbook,” on Wednesday 15th June, 2022. The occasion which attracted dignitaries from all works of life was also graced by the management team of the hospital, senior nurses, professionals, Medical Practitioners, academicians, staff, students’ nurses, friends and well wishers.
The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Imafidon Osama Agbonile who was represented by the Head of Clinical Services department Dr. Joyce Omoaregba, while congratulating the author of the book, stated that the best thing a man can do is to pass on knowledge from one generation to another by putting it in a book. He enjoined all health practioners present to pick a copy of the book for their archives.
The Book Reviewer, Dr. Ngozi Osunde described the author of the book as an astute Nurse Administrator, who through hard work and dedication rose through the ranks to the apex in the nursing profession; she said the book is a great work and asset that is needed in every library. The book which was published by First Empire Creative’s has eleven (11) chapters with eighty one (81) pages. She added that the book is a refreshing reminder of the role of nurses especially at administrative level of ward management which in her opinion should be for every nurse and non nursing personnel who manages human and material resources. Furthermore, she stressed that the author has articulated explicitly in each of the chapters what is required of clinicians and the book is very handy and it should be a constant companion of every nurse irrespective of the cadre. She therefore urged heads of nursing services, principals of schools and colleges of nursing, heads of departments of nursing sciences, chief executives and administrators of both public and private institutions to get copies of the book in their libraries and various wards.
The author of the book, who was highly elated said that the launching of the book was a dream come through and thanked God Almighty for the success, adding that he was motivated to write the book owing to the experience he had acquired over the years in his profession. He added that he wanted to make his book a reference point in the future and leave a foot print in the nursing profession.
Climax of the occasion was the unveiling and launching of the book by the chief launcher Dr. Andrew Obi.
