FNPH Benin’s Information & Public Relations Unit

The Management of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin City, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, received a delegation from the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) on a courtesy and advocacy visit aimed at strengthening awareness of the Employee Compensation Act, 2010. In attendance were the Medical Director, Dr Imafidon O. Agbonile, alongside the Head of Clinical Services, Dr Godspower O. Owie, and the Director of Administration, Mrs Clara C. O. Isede.

The NSITF delegation was led by Mrs Obiageljaku Mary-Jane Igbeka, Assistant General Manager, accompanied by other senior officials of the organisation. The team briefed the hospital’s management on the provisions of the Employee Compensation Act, 2010, a social security and welfare scheme designed to provide comprehensive compensation and support for employees who suffer work-related injuries, disabilities, illnesses, or death in the course of their employment.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation during the meeting, Mrs Gloria Clark explained that the Act was passed by the National Assembly on 17 December 2010 and became operational in July 2011. She noted that the Federal Government mandated the NSITF to administer the scheme nationwide. According to her, the Employee Compensation Scheme guarantees a transparent and equitable system of compensation for affected employees and also provides rehabilitation support, including assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, and other necessary appliances where applicable.

In his remarks, the Medical Director, Dr Agbonile, thanked the NSITF delegation for the informative visit and commended the organisation for its efforts in promoting employee welfare through the implementation of the Employee Compensation Scheme. The visit concluded with the formal presentation of a copy of the Employee Compensation Act to the Medical Director, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
