The leadership of Benin Club Edo State, on Wednesday 8 July 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile, to congratulate him on his re-appointment and celebrate his outstanding contributions to healthcare and community development.
Receiving the delegation at the hospital were the Medical Director, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile, the Head of Clinical Services, Dr Godspower O. Owie; and the Director of Administration, Mrs C. C. O. Isede.
Leading the delegation was the President of Benin Club, Associate Professor E. E. Isibor, accompanied by the Vice-President, Secretary, the Captain of the Sports Section and other executive members of the club.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the club stated that the delegation was at the hospital to formally congratulate Dr. Agbonile on his re-appointment as the Medical Director of the hospital. He described his re-appointment as a testament of his exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements in transforming the hospital. “We are also here to commend you for your exemplary mentorship, intellectual contributions, commitment to community development, impressive infrastructural and institutional advancements in the hospital, as well as your selfless service to humanity”, he said. He noted that the Medical Director remains one of the club’s most distinguished and highly respected members, whose accomplishments continue to bring honour to the association. Giving a brief history of Benin Club, the President disclosed that the prestigious club was founded in 1931 and has remained a foremost socio-cultural institution in Edo State.
Responding, Dr Agbonile expressed profound appreciation to the President and members of the club for the thoughtful visit and honour bestowed on him. He commended the current leadership of Benin Club for enhancing the visibility and prestige of the club through purposeful leadership and impactful initiatives.
The Medical Director attributed the hospital’s numerous achievements to the unwavering commitment and collective support of the hospitals management team and staff, noting that their dedication has been instrumental to the institution’s steady growth and transformation. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the momentum by advancing quality mental healthcare services; strengthening institutional development and improving patient-centred service delivery.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a congratutory recognition plaque to Dr Agbonile by the leadership of Benin Club in honour of his exemplary leadership and re-appointment, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
