 FNPH Benin Organizes Training Programme for the Newly Employed Core Clinical Members of Staff

The Clinical Services Department of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City recently organized a training programme for the newly employed core clinical members of staff. The first phase of the training which held on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th August, 2023 in the new lecture-hall of the school of Psychiatric Nursing in the hospital’s site at Uselu had in attendance professionals such as: Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Welfare Officers, Environmental Health Officer, Radiologist, among others. A second phase of the training held on Wednesday 23rd – Thursday August 24th 2023 in the same venue.

In his opening remarks, the distinguished amiable Head of Clinical Services, Dr. J.O. Omoaregba who enthusiastically welcomed the different participants, noted that the training programme was designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge required to provide quality healthcare services to patients. He thus urged them to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and grow in their respective fields. He used the opportunity to thank Biogenerics Nigeria Limited for sponsoring the training. Other facilitators include: Dr. (Mrs.) O.O. Arigbede, Consultant Psychiatrist; Dr. (Mrs.) B.E.A. Uteh, Consultant Psychiatrist; Mrs. B.O. Osamuyimwen, Assistant Director of Nursing Services; and Mrs. J.O. Ariyo Ph.D, Clinical Psychologist.

The training programme covered several modules including: Basic Principles for Working with Clients, Unconditional Positive Regard, Documentation, Inter-professional Collaboration, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Management, Time Management, etc. There was also a presentation done by the representative of Biogenerics Nigeria Limited.

It also featured comments, questions and answer session and was well received by the trainees who expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the training.
