The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin City, was agog with joy and celebration as management and staff gathered for the hospital’s 2025 end-of-year party, marked by the retirement ceremony for long-serving employees and the presentation of awards to deserving staff.

Speaking at the event, the Medical Director, Dr. Imafidon Osama Agbonile, commended the 17 retiring staff, as well as the 23 awardees, for their dedication, resilience, and immense contributions to the growth and development of the hospital. He urged staff to sustain their commitment to the hospital’s mission of delivering quality mental health care services.

Dr. Agbonile also highlighted management’s plans for the coming year, noting that the hospital intends to expand its operations with greater emphasis on digital innovations and improved welfare standards for staff in 2025.

The retirees, drawn from various departments of the hospital, were presented with cash gifts, food items, and certificates of service as a mark of appreciation for their meritorious service to the institution. Some of the retirees, who served for over three decades, expressed gratitude to God and the hospital management for a fulfilling career.

One of the retirees, who served for 31 years, described the journey as “sweet, blessed, and fulfilling,” expressing joy and satisfaction at the completion of her service.

In addition to the retirement honours, awards were presented to outstanding staff members in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and exceptional contributions to the hospital’s mandate. Award recipients attributed their achievements to faith, perseverance, family support, and mentorship.

The event was attended by members of the hospital’s management team, directors, heads of departments, and staff, who used the occasion to celebrate the retirees and reflect on the hospital’s achievements over the past year.
