 Set 7 Alumni of the School of Psychiatric Nursing, FNPH Benin Hold its Inaugural Reunion Meeting

The Set 7 Alumni Association of the School of Psychiatric Nursing, now the College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Benin City, held its inaugural reunion meeting on Friday April 11th, 2025. The event took place within the hospital premises at Uselu.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Set 7 Alumni Association, Mr Roland Okungbowa, highlighted the objectives of the association, stating that it was established to foster communication and interaction among members while also providing moral and financial support. He emphasized that the association prioritizes support during significant life events such as retirements, personal achievements, and bereavements.

Mr Okungbowa noted that the association currently offers a retirement package of N500,000 to each member upon retirement from service, adding that three members have benefited from this gesture since the inception of the initiative. He further reiterated the association’s commitment to giving back to their alma mater by supporting the school’s development and inspiring the students.

The Head, Nursing Services, Mrs G.E. Obaseki, who represented the Medical Director during the occasion, expressed appreciation to the alumni for their thoughtfulness and noted that the Medical Director had been a strong pillar of support for the school. According to her, “Dr Agbonile’s visionary leadership has played a pivotal role in the institution’s elevation to its current enviable status”.

In his welcome address, the Provost of the College, Mr Saturday O. Okolo, gave a brief history of the school and gave a brief overview of the history and transformation of the school. He commended the alumni for their initiative and lauded the Hospital Management led by Dr I.O. Agbonile for his unwavering support, particularly in the upgrade of the institution to a College of Nursing Sciences. Highpoint of the event was the presentation of a brand-new laptop computer and a projector with screen to the college by the Set 7 Alumni Association.
