World Epilepsy Day, also known as Purple Day, is celebrated worldwide every year on 26 March. The day is set aside to create awareness and action on how to manage the condition.
The Community Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent unit of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin, commemorates the day with a walk to Ogida market and a visit to Evbareke Senior and Junior Secondary School, Benin City, to have an awareness talk with the traders, passersby, and students of the school.
The purpose of the event is to dispel any myths and misconceptions that exist about epilepsy and also educate them about epilepsy and how they can support those with epilepsy.
