 Medical Directors Strengthen Collaboration During Courtesy Visit to FNPH Benin

The Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile, on Tuesday 21st April 2026 received a high-powered delegation comprising Dr Yusuf M. Abdullahi, Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe and Dr Philip Ugbodaga, Medical Director of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin City.

The courtesy visit, held at the FNPH Benin Director’s office in Uselu, was aimed at fostering collaboration and exchanging ideas to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare institutions.

Dr Agbonile described the visit as “a welcome opportunity to deepen partnerships and chart new pathways for advancing the health sector”. Discussions focused on joint initiatives, knowledge-sharing and strategies to improve service delivery across federal medical facilities.

The visiting Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe commended the Medical Director of FNPH Benin for his excellent leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger networks that will benefit patients and communities nationwide. He emphasized the importance of peer engagement among leaders of federal health institutions, noting that collaboration remains a critical pathway to addressing systemic challenges in healthcare administration and service provision.

Dr Agbonile used the medium to reiterate is commitment to fostering partnerships that drive innovation and research excellence in healthcare delivery. He underscored the need for continuous dialogue among medical leaders, particularly in areas of policy implementation, resource optimization, research and staff development. The meeting concluded with renewed pledges to sustain collaboration and explore innovative approaches to healthcare delivery.
