The College of Nursing Sciences, Department of Mental Health Psychiatry, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin City officially commenced its Seminar Week on Monday, July, 2025, with the Set 39 students taking centre stage in a series of presentations designed to test their knowledge, professional competence, and ethical understanding.
The academic event, which forms a core part of the students’ curriculum, witnessed the division of the students into various groups. Each group was tasked with discussing and analyzing topical issues affecting the nursing profession, particularly in the area of mental health care, professional conduct, and workplace ethics.
Present at the seminar were examiners who keenly observed and evaluated the students’ presentations. Their assessments focused on the depth of research, clarity of thought, professional delivery, and alignment with contemporary nursing standards and ethical principles. According to one of the academic staff of the department who spoke with FNPH Benin’s News Crew, “the Seminar Week provides a vital platform for the students to showcase their academic development and readiness for professional practice. It also reinforces the College’s commitment to producing well-grounded, ethically responsible, and mentally prepared nursing professionals”.
