ARD UBTH Executive Pays Courtesy Visit to the Medical Director of FNPH Benin

The Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin City, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, received in audience the newly elected executive members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Chapter, who paid a courtesy visit to the hospital’s management.

The delegation, led by the newly elected President of the ARD UBTH, Dr Osaretin Asemota, informed the Medical Director that the visit was to formally introduce the new executive to the management of FNPH Benin and foster mutual cooperation between both institutions regarding their forthcoming World Purple Day celebration scheduled to hold on March 26, 2025. He thus solicited the collaboration, particularly in the areas of advisory support and financial assistance, towards the successful commemoration of the event.

It is worthy of note that the World Purple Day (i.e. March 26), is globally recognized as a day dedicated to raise awareness about epilepsy, a neurological disorder that affects millions worldwide.

In his response, Dr Agbonile warmly welcomed the visiting team and congratulated them on their recent election, wishing them a productive and impactful tenure. He assured them of the hospital’s willingness to support the celebration of the event within its capacity, noting that the hospital’s core mandate in mental health care aligns closely with the objectives of the event. He further advised them to explore additional avenues for funding in order to effectively achieve their goals and objectives.

Also present at the meeting were the President of ARD FNPH Benin Chapter, Dr Ikponwosa Igbinovia, and Dr Julius Adeduntan, who were in attendance to support the partnership between the two institutions. The visit culminated in a group photograph, marking the high point of the event.
