
The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH) Benin City has commenced a five-day induction programme for its newly employed staff. The event, which began on Monday, January 6, 2025, is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, January 10, 2025.
During the opening ceremony, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile, emphasized the importance of the induction, stating that its primary objective was to acquaint the new staff with the ethics, norms, and expectations of Nigeria’s public service. Dr Agbonile urged the inductees to demonstrate discipline, hard work, and dedication to their roles. He also advised them to adopt the right attitude towards work and align themselves with the hospital’s commendable work culture.
Other members of the management team who graced the occasion included: Dr G.O. Owie, Head of Clinical Services; Pharm. (Mrs) M.I. Ibhawoh, Head of Pharmaceutical Services; Mrs C.C.O. Isede, Head of Human Resources; Mr S.O. Okolo, Principal, School of Psychiatric Nursing; Mrs G.E. Obaseki, Head of Nursing Services; Mrs R.J. Igbinnosa, Head of Accounts and Mrs E.A. Anthony-Owie, Head of Audit.
The induction featured a series of lectures covering key topics such as: An overview of hospital ethics, Civil service rules and their application, Public service rules and their relevance, Pension and gratuities, Registry functions/documentation and the oath of secrecy, Discipline in the workplace, SERVICOM and service delivery. To provide a practical understanding of the hospital’s operations, the new staff were also taken on a guided tour of the hospital’s facilities.
