 School of Psychiatric Nursing, FNPH Benin, Elects New Student Leadership

On Friday, 11 October 2024, the School of Psychiatric Nursing at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City (FNPH Benin), successfully held elections for the Student Union Government (SUG) executive members of the Set 39 students. The election which was described by observers as free, fair, and credible, resulted in the election of their peers in the current academic session.

The newly elected SUG executive members are as follows:

  • Idede Abisola                          –                       Secretary-General
  • Onwudinjo Peter                     –                       Public Relations Officer
  • Okomayin Ofuje                      –                       Welfare Director
  • David Godwin O.                     –                       Social Director
  • Ugwoke Oluchi Lucy               –                       Assistant Secretary-General
  • Ozisigho Ifeoma                      –                       Financial Secretary
  • Omorodion Franka                  –                       Treasurer
  • Okpako O. Gift                          –                       Hostel Minister
  • Beye Blessing                          –                       Assistant Social Director

Speaking with the hospital’s New Crew, the Election Observers – Mrs. K.O. Edokpaigbe and Mr. Smith Oyevbimina expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, commending its transparency and fairness. In his remarks, the President-elect, Nkama S. Chima, expressed his gratitude to the students for entrusting him with the leadership role. He pledged to diligently serve the interests of the student body and uphold the confidence reposed in him. He also extended his appreciation to the Medical Director, the Principal of the School, and other principal officers present for their support and commitment to ensuring the smooth conduct of the election.
