The Society for the Study of Pain, Nigeria (SSPN) delegation visited the Medical Director of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin (FNPHBenin) on July 9, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to brief the Medical Director and seek Management support for their upcoming 26^th Annual Scientific Conference and General Meeting (AGM) of SSPN, scheduled to take place from July 24^th – 27^th, 2024, at the CERHI Lecture Hall, University of Benin.

The delegation, led by Professor Kayode I. Oke, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and SSPN Chairman, Edo State, emphasized the significance of the conference theme, “Sex and Gender Disparities in Pain: Implications for Pain Management and Research”. This theme underscores the critical need to address the differences in pain experiences and management across different sexes and genders, aiming to enhance the quality and efficacy of pain treatment and research.

The Medical Director expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the relevance of the conference theme to contemporary medical practice.

The SSPN’s 26^th Annual Scientific Conference and General Meeting promises to be a significant event, bringing together leading experts in pain management and research to discuss and develop strategies to address sex and gender disparities in pain.
