The Management of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City recently organized a comprehensive capacity-building training for the middle-level managers (i.e. Heads of Unit). The training which was aimed to enhance the managerial skills and knowledge of the Heads of Unit held on Tuesday May 21st 2024 at the hospital’s conference hall in Uselu. It would be recalled that a similar training programme was also organized for members of staff in the Directorate Cadre in January 2024.
The training was well-attended, with the Medical Director and the Heads of Department present. While welcoming the participants, the Deputy Director of Administration and Head of Human Resources, Mrs. C.C.O. Isede emphasized the importance of the training, noting that the topics were trending and insightful issues that the Heads of Unit needed to be aware of. She thus urged participants to pay close attention during the training, as they would help to disseminate the knowledge to their subordinate staff.
In his address, the Medical Director, Dr Imafidon O. Agbonile welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the Head of Human Resources and the other facilitators for putting the training together. He stated that the training was aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants and described it as a panacea for effective work performance. The Medical Director pledged to continue such initiative regularly.
The facilitators who included Mrs. C.C.O. Isede, Mr. P.O. Ihenyen, Mrs. P.E. Alasa, Mrs. G.O. Daudu and Mr. K.E. Imirhe delivered insightful lectures on Conversion, Changes in the Public Service Rules, Minutes Writing, Team Management, Performance Management System (PMS), Discipline and Pension Fund Administration (PFA) and changes. The training featured engaging question-and-answer sessions, allowing participants to clarify doubts. Participants were also treated to refreshment, and at the end of the programme, certificates of participation were presented to them. Some of the participants who spoke to the hospital’s media crew expressed satisfaction with the lectures and thanked the hospital management for organizing the training.
