The newly elected executive of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Edo State Chapter yesterday Tuesday 7th November 2023 paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Benin City (FNPH Benin). The visit was led by the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Francis C. Olise who informed Management that a new executive of NANNM had been elected to lead the union for a period of 4 years. It is noteworthy that the current State Chairman of NANNM is a Chief Nursing Officer at FNPH Benin. The core Management Team present included: Dr. Imafidon O. Agbonile, Medical Director; Dr. J.O. Omoaregba, Head of Clinical Services; and Mrs. C.C.O Isede, Head of Human Resources.
In his address, Mr. Olise expressed his gratitude to the Medical Director for his warm reception and on behalf of his union solicited a greater collaboration with the hospital. He also implored the Medical Director to continue to look into the welfare of the nurses in the hospital because of the pivotal role they play in healthcare service delivery.
While welcoming the union executive, the Medical Director congratulated them on their election and wished them a successful tenure. He also assured them of Management’s partnership and support of activities that would help to further promote the welfare of the nurses. He however use the opportunity to enlightened Mr. Olise not to allow the onerous duties of his new office as the state Chairman of NANNM to infringe on his primary responsibilities as a staff nurse in the hospital. The Medical Director also used the medium to commend the nurses of the hospital for their dedication to work, competence and professionalism, adding that he was proud of them.
