 College of Nursing Sciences, FNPH Benin newly elected SUG Excos inaugurated

The College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Benin, has officially sworn in the newly elected Students Union Government (SUG) executive.

The swearing-in was held on Thursday, 7 May, 2026, after a successful election on 27 March, 2026.

Delivering the opening address, the acting provost, Mr. S.O. Okolo, commended the outgoing SUG members for their service.

He urged the newly sworn-in executive to uphold integrity, accountability, and teamwork during their tenure.

Also speaking, Mrs. V.O. Otabor pointed out that the election was free, fair, and credible and advised the new students’ government to get ready to carry the mantle of leadership representing their co-students.

The task she said entails preparedness to perform their responsibilities and duties under the supervision of the school’s management.

In the same vein, Mr. K.O. Iwegim admonished the inaugurated exco members that ‘Aluta’ does not mean war.

Therefore, they must resolve issues peacefully and always resort to dialogue, emphasizing that their position as SUG exco does not allow for unruliness.

Further, the SUG President of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Christian Onyinwere, advised the exco members to be serious with their studies while in office.

He appealed to the students in both the basic and post-basic studies to fully support the exco for optimum leadership.

On behalf of the exco members, the SUG President, Ugochukwu Nnabuike Evaristus, expressed gratitude to the students and the school’s management for voting for them to serve.

He pledged to prioritize students’ engagement, assuring the elected team is ready to serve.

Reiterating impactful representation of the students, Evaristus assured the team would give priority to academic support.

“We are here to listen, act, and build a better school together.”

He also promised to devote himself to the service and well-being of the students under the umbrella of the association.

4. Financial Secretary – Akajiaku Blessed

5. Treasurer – Aniakor Precious Chidera

6. Assistant Secretary – Ewanisha Sharon Ayevbiosa 

7. Welfare Director – Itepu Tracy 

8. Social Director – Azuka Ifeanyichukwu Phamous 

9. Director of Sports – Benson Joseph

10. Hostel Minister – Alabi Oluwaseyi Victory

11. Hostel Minister 2 – Edah Tamaraemi Claudia

12. Director of Socials 2 – Osasumwen Caleb Osatohamwem

13. Sports Director 2 – Enubuzor Bright Chukwubube

14. P. R. O. – Odiase Osayi Excel

The school management and students have welcomed the new leadership with optimism, anticipating initiatives that will enhance both academic excellence and campus life at the College of Nursing Sciences, FNPH, Benin. Highlighting the event was the taking of the oath of office by the new SUG exco members.
