 Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City Gets New Director of Administration

The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Mrs Clara Celimat Omokwuwele Isede as the substantive Director of Administration, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City. The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 2025, following a rigorous competitive selection process which held in Abuja.

Mrs Isede’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the history of the hospital. Since its establishment over 60 years ago, she becomes the second person to hold the position of Director of Administration after over 12 years of the retirement of Mrs P.I. Edosuyi of blessed memory. The Medical Director, Dr Imafidon O. Agbonile has committed himself to achieving the milestone of appointing a substantive Director of Administration since taking office in 2020.

Mrs Isede holds a Bachelor Degree in History from the then Bendel State University Ekpoma (now Ambrose Alli University) in 1990 and a Masters Degree in History from the prestigious University of Benin, Benin City in 2007. She is a Doctoral Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources (CIHRM), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources (CIPDM), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM). She is trained by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and the Public Service Institute of Nigeria on Administrative and Human Resources Matters (PSIN). She has also undergone training in Manpower Planning and Budgeting by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.

Prior to her elevation, Mrs Isede served as Deputy Director of Administration in charge of Human Resources, where she was widely regarded for her professionalism, diligence, and keen attention to detail. Her administrative journey began in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where she rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Director, a position she held for nine years before transferring her services to Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City. Since joining the hospital, she has continued to distinguish herself in various leadership capacities, rising from Assistant Director to Deputy Director, and now, Director of Administration. Her appointment is seen as a testament of her wealth of experience, commitment to excellence, and deep understanding of administration.
